Where we were tied up for years was nothing more than what appeared to be brownfield.

The discovery of the Erie Canal remains, when they started the preliminary excavations for the new Naval Park Museum, had the park people in an uproar, as the discovery of the canal would impact the park's planning and growth. I remember that there were lots of hard feelings coming from the park toward those who were pushing for the preservation of the canal as a historic resource,

After a four year absence at Sullivans field days, I returned last week to find that fantastic waterfront and the Naval park absolutely beside itself with delight at the through-the-roof increase in visitorship as well as a quantum improvement in the safety and appearance of the park area.

Funny stuff.

Best wishes,

MannieMannie Gentilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06225923971073419275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22656823.post-10311880897473409582008-08-19T00:44:00.000-04:002008-08-19T00:44:00.000-04:00Mannie, too bad that I read this post this morning...Mannie, too bad that I read this post this morning the 19th at 1240 AM...I could have popped down from my my paradise in Orleans County to pay you a visit. In fact I was down at the Museum a couple of weeks ago. The Buffalo waterfront has changed a lot since the Sullivans was first parked there.
Enjoy reviewing your blogs.
Look us up on the 29th, just north of Sharpsburg.

Jim T.
in beautiful NW Orleans County, New YorkAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22656823.post-36127636154322618872008-08-16T19:28:00.000-04:002008-08-16T19:28:00.000-04:00Gotta love the seamen.Gotta love the seamen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
