Faces from Battle Anniversary

Here are the faces of some of the men of the gun detachment that were firing the cannons at the battlefield this past weekend. They're all State or National Park Rangers from South Mountain State Battlefield and Antietam National Battlefield, and really great guys, each and every one.

Here's a little movie of the detachment in action:

Your pictures are great. I visited Antietam Battlefield this weekend and wrote about it on my blog. Since the battlefield is in a remote area, it has been less impacted by development than many other battlefields like Manassas and remains a great monument to those who died there. The anniverary related activities this weekend gave me a real feel for the battle.

Thanks Mike,

I'm glad you had a good visit, and you're right about the unspoiled nature of Antietam, you'll find a similar situation at Shiloh.

Best wishes,

Mannie

Nice looking crew, nice to see a good number of younger guys on it. We had a similar infantry program for the 145th anv. event at Chickamauga.
