"The Rest is Silence" Antietam Illumination 2007

This past Saturday was the 19th annual Illumination at Antietam National Battlefield. It gave me the opportunity to gather additional footage to go along with the material I shot last year. And finally I have something to show you.

Do let me know what you think.

Best wishes,

Ranger Mannie

Ranger Mannie,

Another excellent video. We feared the weather forecast and did not make the trip. Thanks for providing this video.

Merry Christmas.

Ranger Mannie,
very nicely done. I have seen the Illuminaria three times and each time it is awe inspiring. Your video captures a part of it. I agree with the volunteeer about seeing the candles when you crest the first hill.
I could not make the journey this year, somebody had to stay home with the cats. Fortunately some folks got to see it for the first time. And always remember the sights.

Ranger Mannie,

What a great job! It's true that one must experience it to really appreciate it, but you have been able to "catch" it with your video for those who are unable to be there. I was the lucky one to be there....knowing the cats were OK!
Thanks Mannie ~ The U.S.S.C. always appreciates your hard work.
Hope your Holiday Season is bright and the New Year Filled with Good Fortune.
All The Best!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It has been a couple of years since I last made it to the Illumination. I never knew that they had a ceremony for the lighting since, of course, we were in line awaiting the start. Thank you very much for sharing that part. I very much hope to make it back to Antietam in the coming year and for the Illumination as well. Here is a little youtube I did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbrgSnHmcIc

Ranger Mannie,

I really appreciate your video. The intro, middle, the end I believe carries the essence of the illumination. I toured the Illumination for the first time this year. We hear the statistics of the casulties from the battle but to see it visually on the battlefield brings the reality of the carnage a little more in perspective. In conclusion I would have to give thanks to the volunteers of the event.

Thought the video was nicely done. I had no idea that you were such a talented fellow. If I rub your head will it rub off?

When do you want to do some drumming?
