Is it just me...
...or are the conscripts getting younger with each campaign?

Mannie, For National Junior Ranger Day yesterday, I led a group of families with their kids on a tour of the battlefield here at Wilson's Creek. I wore the uniform of a U.S. Regular, gave a common soldier talk, and demonstrated the firing of a black powder rifle. We have great volunteers here at Wilson's Creek, who also contributed greatly at various points. Everyone, including me, had a wonderful afternoon, although my feet hurt this morning from tramping around in those nineteenth century shoes! I did have to tell them that I, being 52 years old, am far older than the average Civil War soldier.
Love your blog and all the photos. Keep up the good work!
